Pseudosasa japonica
An upright thicket-forming bamboo with olive-green canes when young maturing pale beige. Dark green narrow leaves are silver-grey beneath with a yellow midrib. Green flowers are rare.
Sasa veitchii
A spreading bamboo with purple canes. Glossy dark green leaves wither at the margins from late autumn.
Semiarundinaria fastuosa
A tall erect tree-like bamboo with mid-green canes striped purple-brown. Glossy mid-green leaves mainly on the upper part of the plant.
Shibataea kumasasa
An evergreen clump-forming bamboo with greenish brown canes and rich dark green leaves. New canes appear in very early spring.
